what is wolp
The Warwickshire Direct Partnership (WDP) is a voluntary collaboration of all six local authorities in Warwickshire.

Recently it won the prestigious National e-Government Award 2006 for Shared Services for its use of a jointly procured system that helps partners deal with its customers. This has resulted in significant savings and efficiencies for all partners and a greatly improved service for customers. The joint procurement alone resulted in savings of approximately £600,000.

The partnership has agreed a vision detailed in its Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU was signed up to by each of the Chief Executives of the six local authorities with the aims of:

  • Allowing citizens and service users free choice as to how they contact the council
  • Achieving improved public service delivery
  • Sharing resources, technology and good practice between the partners

This year the Partnership is moving forward with agreement on a joint access strategy which will see a series of exciting projects aimed at achieving the aims set out in the MoU. When achieved, it is believed that the Partnership will be in the forefront of local authorities in the UK for the service it provides for the people of Warwickshire.

The programme of work so far has produced real successes and created a very strong partnership which is recognised not only within Warwickshire, but regionally and nationally as well.
